The Village of Shorewood Hills in Madison is one of the most beautiful places to live in all of Dane county. It’s filled with a diverse crowd, a mixture of urban and suburban feels and great local shopping experiences! Located right along Lake Mendota, this neighborhood also boasts one of the most incredible views in Madison for local residents.

And being so close to the University of Wisconsin-Madison makes it an ideal area for both a growing family and a college student moving out on their own for the first time.

Shorewood Hills was officially designated back in 1927 when two real estate plats (College Hills and Shorewood) officially merged. The city of Madison was still growing, but it wasn’t until after World War II that the area really started to blossom.

Likely one of the most famous aspects of the Village of Shorewood Hills is it’s connection to the famous architect Frank Lloyd Wright. Wright was a Wisconsin native and actually grew up right here in Madison. The First Unitarian Meeting House is one of Wright’s most famous building designs and it is right over on University Bay Drive here in Shorewood Hills. This building was designated by the American Institute of Architects as one of Wright’s most important contributions to American architecture.

In 1930, the Shorewood Hills Community League was formed. This volunteer organization was created to help continually make the Village a great place to live and raise children. The League provides opportunities to volunteer with welcoming new residents, hosts events and distributes a local directory to support local businesses.

The Shorewood Hills Garden Club is another wonderful organization and they help foster the growth of home gardening in the area. They have helped create and maintain 20 flower gardens scattered throughout the Village.

We are so proud to be a local drywall company serving Shorewood Hills. It’s a Village filled with rich history and great people!

One of the most famous activities and times of year in Shorewood Hills is the 4th of July. This has been a traditionally exciting time for the Village and is one of the most elaborate holidays of the year.

The morning begins with an art show and bake sale at the local Firehouse. Following lunch, the children’s parade always brings large crowds and is a highlight of the days celebration.

After the parade, there’s a plethora of activities for children and adults that include: fire engine rides, balloon animal making, carnival games and an egg toss game. If you’ve ever wondered what a community party looks like for the celebration of our nation’s independence, Shorewood Hills is the place to be!
